Superbowl Sunday At Our New Facility & Onward in 1 Corinthians

This is a big weekend for City on a Hill. Not only is it Superbowl Sunday, an opportunity to get the whole family together for some good food and community time, but it also marks the first Sunday in our new worship facility on 107 East Parish Street.

For the past three months we have been working through the book of 1 Corinthians. The Corinthian church was a total mess. There were issues with leadership, there were a great deal of sexual perversion, Christians were suing one another and even cutting each other in line at the communion table on the get drunk off the communion wine. This past Sunday we finished looking at Paul’s address to those who were causing divisions, this week we look at Paul addressing another group of people inside the church, the sexually immoral (particularity those committing adultery) and those who refused to acknowledge their sin and address it.

For the next couple of weeks we will be looking at what the Gospel has to say regarding, sex, relationships, singleness and everything in between. It should come as no surprise that the next couple of chapters in 1 Corinthians are viewed as some of the most hotly debated and fought over text in the entire bible, and we kick off with this new section of Paul’s letter this Sunday.

Following service we will be hosting the big game at our new location. The church will be providing chili, hotdogs and drinks. We are asking that those who are able bring a side and a dessert. The party and pre-game footage will begin at 6:00 PM. We will have corn hole boards set up, some footballs to toss around, and a little Madden Football tournament for those into gaming. Additionally, we will give you the opportunity to guess the score and outcome of the game. The one closest to the actual end game score has a chance to win a prize.

This is always a great time to invite someone to church! So bring your friends, and haves them bring one too. We look forward to seeing you on Superbowl Sunday at City on a Hill’s new location in the 107.
