This week marks the beginning of our Spring Community Groups. One of our identity points at City on a Hill is “family”. Part of how we identify ourselves as Christians is by the fact that Jesus has adopted us as his sons and daughters and made us a family. This family is evident by how we live our lives in community with one another, loving, serving, praying, encouraging and being honest and transparent with each other. In doing this the gospel moves from the scriptures and becomes evident in our lives and in our church. There is no better way to experience the gospel than in a church community.
No matter what region you live in, your experience at each different community group is going to be very similar. Each group time is broken into three sections, the meal (there is going to be lots of great food), prayer (you get the opportunity to hear one anothers needs and pray for each other), and the discussion (all community group content is taken from the Sunday’s message). Though the people are different from group to group, all of our content and structure remains the same.
Community Groups will be running for the next nine weeks, from April 28 – June 29th. We currently offer three groups that you and your family can be a part of.
North Statesboro// The North Statesboro group is led by Alan Ballard and is hosted at his house on Tuesday nights from 7:00 – 8:30 PM. (On Tuesday April 29th the group will start at 7:30). If you are interested in attending the North Statesboro Community Group all you have to do is show up! The address is 547 Pleasant Point Road Statesboro GA.
South Statesboro// The South Statesboro group is led by Dan Friesen and is hosted and the Friesen house on Wednesday nights from 7:00 – 8:30 PM. The house is easy to find at 318 Leyland Road Statesboro GA.
Claxton// This is the first time we are offering a group in Claxton and we are thrilled to have it available. We have a great deal of people that attend City on a Hill and drive from Claxton, Glennville and Nevills. This group is extremely close to your place and we would love to have you attend. The group is led by John Hormel and is hosted at the Woodcock Ranch (638 Eli Kennedy Road Collins GA) from 7:00 – 8:30 PM on Friday evenings. They will be having their first meeting on Friday May 2nd and Sue preparing a special meal for the evening so you do not have to bring anything.
Something that will really help you stay plugged in with you community group is creating a City account. The City is our online social network that allows us to communicate to our groups and lets them know what is happening and taking place. You can start a community group by going to the website listed below.
We hope we get the chance to see you at one of our community groups!
